Who We Are?

We're all about sharing the joy of travel

Wandering Yaks are the people of the Karakoram, Hindukush, Himalayas, and the high pastures of the Pamir. For over 10 years, they've hosted travelers in these mountains long before there was a platform for it. Now, that experience has come together as Wandering Yaks: local hosts welcoming you as one of their own, whether in a remote pasture, a hidden valley, or at basecamp.

We specialize in mountain travel, cultural experiences, and off-the-beaten-path expeditions: sharing tea in a village, crossing dramatic mountain roads, capturing moments through photography. Every journey is personal, unhurried, and rooted in real hospitality.

From $2,100

per person

This ten-day journey travels deep into the heart of the Karakoram, where towering peaks give way to fertile terraced valleys and centuries-old traditions remain very much alive. Beyond the dramatic scenery, this trip…

  • Traditional homestays with Wakhi and Hunzai families — not passing through, but welcomed in
  • Baltit Fort, Altit Fort, and the old lanes of Altit Village
  • Attabad Lake, Hopper Glacier, and the Hussaini Suspension Bridge
  • Shimshal Valley — one of the most remote and least-visited communities in the Karakoram
